| population | Saudi Arabia | “Purpose This research aims to determine the pattern of CAKUT in preterm infants in Qatif Central Hospital, located in Qatif, which is in the eastern region of Saudi Arabia. Methods This cross-sectional study was performed to determine the pattern of CAKUT using ultrasound in neonates admitted to the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) in Qatif Central Hospital in the Eastern region of Saudi Arabia between January 2018 and December 2022. Among the 48 patients, 30 (62.2%) were male and 18 (37.5%) were female, with a mean (SD) gestational age of 32.5 ± 3.5 weeks, and the majority of them had low birth weight (29, 60.4%).” | 0.95 | saudi_context_rules_v1 |
| population | Saudi Arabia | “OBJECTIVE: The genetic spectrum of primary open-angle glaucoma (POAG) in middle-eastern Saudi's is still elusive. RESULTS: The minor "T" allele frequency of rs693421 was 0.48 in controls and 0.52 in cases (odds ratio (OR) = 1.15, 95% confidence interval (CI) 0.85-1.54, p = 0.368).” | 0.95 | saudi_context_rules_v1 |
| population | Saudi Arabia | “METHODS: Phospholipids (PE, PS, PC) and cPLA2 as biochemical parameters were determined in the plasma of 48 Saudi autistic male patients, categorized as mild-moderate and severe as indicated by their Childhood Autism Rating Scale (CARS), social responsiveness scale (SRS) and short sensory profile (SSP) and compared to 40 age- and gender-matched control samples.” | 0.95 | saudi_context_rules_v1 |
| population | Saudi Arabia | “In Saudi Arabia, HNSCC accounts for seven percent of all newly diagnosed cancer cases. OBJECTIVE: The objective of this study is to identify mutations in exon 9 and exon 20 of the PIK3CA gene among Saudi HNSCC patients, determine the frequency of these mutations and correlate with clinical and pathological findings. METHODS: Histopathologically confirmed paraffin embedded HNSCC tumor tissues from 48 patients were obtained.” | 0.95 | saudi_context_rules_v1 |
| population | Saudi Arabia | “Characteristics of autism spectrum disorders in a sample of egyptian and saudi patients: transcultural cross sectional study. The current study was done to compare characteristics of autism in two groups of Egyptian as well as Saudi children. METHODS: The sample included 48 children with Autism Spectrum Disorder. They were recruited from the Okasha Institute of Psychiatry, Ain Shams University, Cairo, Egypt and Al-Amal Complex for Mental Health, Dammam, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. They were grouped into an Egyptian group (n = 20) and a Saudi group (n = 28). Delayed language development was significantly higher in the Egyptian group while delay in all developmental milestones was more significant in the Saudi group. The Vineland communication subscale showed more significant severe and profound communication defects in the Saudi group while the Gilliam developmental subscale showed significantly more average scores in the Egyptian group. Both groups differed significantly such that the age of noticing abnormality was younger in the Saudi group. The Saudi group showed a higher percentage of missing examinations, older birth order and significantly higher preference to drug treatment, while the Egyptian group showed a high preference to behavioral and phoniatric therapies, higher paternal and maternal education, higher employment among parents and higher family concern.” | 0.95 | saudi_context_rules_v1 |
| population | Saudi Arabia | “G6PD Mediterranean S188F codon mutation is common among Saudi sickle cell patients and increases the risk of stroke. AIM: To describe the molecular spectrum of G6PD gene mutation(s) in a population sample of Saudi Arabian Hemoglobin S (HBS) patients versus normal control from matching ethnicity. METHODS: DNA was extracted from 48 HBS patients and 42 controls. CONCLUSION: G6PD Mediterranean S188F codon mutation is common among Saudi sickle cell patients and increases the risk of stroke.” | 0.95 | saudi_context_rules_v1 |
